As the world braces itself for an uncertain future with the global disruption and its economic aftermath, we’re reminded of the military’s term “VUCA” (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity), shorthand for describing just this kind of difficult environment To thrive in a VUCA world, leaders must connect, adapt and innovate. They also must be adept at adopting new roles, crafting new identities, and finding new meaning for themselves and those they lead.
I had the honor of interviewing Craig Dowden (PhD). He is an award-winning keynote speaker, executive coach, and author of international best-selling “Do Good To Lead Well.” He is also a regular contributor to Forbes, CEOWORLD, Psychology Today, the Financial Post and HuffPost.
His much-anticipated follow-up, A Time to Lead: Mastering Your Self… So You Can Master Your World, was written with legendary CEO Alan Mulally (formerly of Ford Motor Company and Boeing Commercial Airplanes) and Sarah McArthur (co-editor in Chief of Leader-to-Leader magazine), will be released in September.
During our conversation, Craig shared insights on 6 pillars for building a peak performance culture and fostering positive leadership development. We also discuss how empathy has become front and centre as we navigate the pandemic and beyond. He also outlines challenges and opportunities for business leaders during the current disruption as well as a process to handle difficult decisions.
Here’s some of the topics discussed in this video:
